The Story Behind

Introduced in 1950, the Gibson ES-140 was unique in the marketplace: a full-depth, cutaway arch-top guitar in a compact 3/4 body size. A scaled-down version of the ever-popular ES-175, the ES-140 offered big guitar performance for the player seeking a more petite body size, or just travelling light. This original full depth version was built only until 1957, after which the model continued as a thin-line only.

The ES-140 was a single-pickup arch-top electric guitar and like the ES-175 it had an all-laminate construction, which allowed the cost of materials and construction to be kept down, as well as assisting in keeping feedback at higher volumes manageable.

This guitar from 1954 is in immaculate condition.
