The Story Behind

Fender Stratocaster are the most popular guitars and can be found in all conditions. Therefore it was more interesting focussing on special designs or modified examples. This is an example of a heavy modified CBS area Fender Stratocaster.

The basis is an original 1974 hard tail Fender Stratocaster. The guitar features a neck and middle pickup taken from an original 1965 Stratocaster. The bridge pickup is a Suhr SSV (Michael Landau) humbucking pickup with a coil tap on the tone control placed there by Jeff Kollman himself. With the hard tail bridge, the strings go through the body and create a woody sustaining tone. Other modifications include changed tuners to Grovers and an updated pick-guard.

This guitar has been used by Jeff Kollman on virtually every release since 1995. Jeff has owned this guitar for 17 years and has written many songs on it including “Epapo Funk” and “Journey Through Life”. He toured this guitar also with Glenn Hughes and other bands he was invited to play. The guitar is featured in the 2008 Cosmosquad DVD “Lights ,Camera, Squad!!”. Jeff presents also the guitar in the interview section of his DVD.
