The Story Behind

About the Guitar:

In 1993, in relation with a Harley Davidson tribute guitar, Fender purchased some aluminum bodies and had some engraved for the 1993 NAMM show. In 1994 Fender used the bodies to build a regular run of approximately 400 American Standard Stratocasters and 100 American Standard Telecasters anodized in three colors. There was a blue tie-dye, a purple tie-dye and an American Flag pattern for Fender's 40th Anniversary. The rest of the bodies went to the custom shop for different other small runs or custom finishes.

This hollow-body aluminum guitar is one of the few cutsom shop aluminum guitars built. Masterbuilt by Jason Davies it has a chrome finish and a maple neck.

It has a special black scratchplate engraved with the Fender Custom Shop logo, Fender American series tremolo bridge, black pick-up covers and knobs. The maple neck features an ebony fingerboard and a natural headstock with 'spaghetti' logo. Fender enclosed chrome tuners. Three Fender custom shop pick-ups with five way selector, one volume and two tone controls.

The sound is quite unique when played acoustically as the hollow-body gives some resonance. Plugged in it sounds not much too different from an all wood guitar, but nevertheless has a distinctive tone.
